MEET THE 2023 ART CAPTAINS

We are honored to be appointed as 2023 Senior Art Captains at McKinnon Secondary College, and we are super excited to work with staff and students: especially the other Senior and Junior Art Captains! Our main priority as Art Captains is to generate interest and visibility within the Visual Arts throughout the McKinnon community, providing opportunities for students, teachers, and parents to engage in the various art programs on offer at the school.

As part of our responsibilities as Captains we will be running a Senior School folio session on Wednesdays during lunchtimes in T-block. We are excited to be provided with this opportunity to act as leaders within the school. We also want teachers and students to get involved and enjoy the various activities we will be arranging throughout the year. Come along and be a part of the enthusiastic Art community!

We would now like to introduce the other Art Captains for 2023.

Congratulations to the following students who will be representing the Visual Arts at the East Campus:

  • Charmaine Lee (Year 8)

For us art means everything, it is something we both enjoy so we hope you will too.

If you have any questions or suggestions about activities or events we could create this year, feel free to email any of the Art teachers or the Senior Art Captains and we will be more than happy to have a chat.

YEAR 10 SCULPTURE

Sculpture has been one of the best subjects we have chosen. It is full of fun while it also allows us to develop so many new skills.

Already this term, over the course of the past three weeks we have learnt how to saw our own wood, make a sculpture out of wire, nail our sculpture onto wood and use plaster to create our own hand-made sculpture. As well as that we have learnt a range of other small things like how to use different pliers and different wires and other materials to create our own personal, unique sculptures.

Sculpture has allowed us to express ourselves through creating plaster human figures. This subject gives us a lot of freedom with how we want to incorporate certain aspects into our pieces. So far, we have really enjoyed sculpture!
