ONLINE RESOURCES

As we head into another term, I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the electronic resources that are available in the Library via the Library catalogue.

Firstly, our Wheelers ePlatform is an excellent resource for eBooks and audiobooks. With approximately 3,000 titles available, you are sure to find something that interests you. Last year there were almost 1200 loans of ebooks and audiobooks by McKinnon Secondary College students.

Additionally, we have two online encyclopedias that are accessible through the library's catalogue. The World Book Online encyclopedia is a trusted source of information for students of all ages, with articles, videos, and other multimedia resources. The Encyclopedia Britannica is also available, which provides comprehensive and authoritative information on a wide range of topics.

For those of you who are struggling with referencing, we have SLASA's (School Library Association of South Australia) Online Referencing Generator. This is an excellent tool that can help you to create accurate citations and bibliographies using the Harvard referencing style.

Our Echo Online platform is also available, which provides students with resources and analysis of contemporary issues in the media. This site provides background information, arguments for and against, further implications and links to further information.

Finally, we have The Age Newspaper Library Edition. This is a digital replica of the print newspaper, and it provides access to current and archived articles back to 2006. Whether you need to research current events or explore the history of a particular topic, The Age Newspaper Library Edition is a valuable resource. Features include search functionality, save, print, and email options and the flagging of articles for your own collection.

I hope our students will find these resources useful.

BOOK OF THE WEEK

We are excited to share the latest books recently featured in our "Book of the Week" series.

First up is Mara Rutherford's "The Poison Season," a fantasy romance novel set in a world of magic. Set on the island of Endla, Leelo and her community are protected from outsiders by a poisonous lake. When Jaren, a mysterious outsider arrives Leelo makes an unthinkable choice. For readers aged 12+.

Next, we have Sarah Shepard's "Wait for me," a YA supernatural novel by the #1 New York Times bestseller. Wait for Me brings mystery and intrigue to a past-life romance. Best suited to middle to upper secondary.
