LET’S GET THE PARTY STARTED

On Thursday 9 February the PE department invited Dagogo from the Nikki Visaj Movement to host a peer support and recess dance concert at the main campus. The sun was shining, the tunes were pumping and the students were dancing!

Students from Year 7 congregated at the A1 stage to participate in the hip hop dance moves and perform solos on the stage. The atmosphere was electric as students showcased their talents performing all manner of flips and break dance moves.

It was lovely to see the Year 7s cheering each other on, having fun and celebrating each other.

Keep an eye out on the Compass news feed for future recess concerts and other extra-curricular activities.

SENIOR BOYS CRICKET - KINGSTON CHAMPIONS

The prestigious Senior Boys Cricket has a rich history of success in the Kingston Division Round Robin, and the 2023 line-up continued this. In the group stage the team first faced Mordialloc, bowling first and restricting them to 5/49 off their 8 overs, with Senin Seymour and Aidan Jobling both getting 2 wickets. The run chase took just over 3 overs with Lewis Sellenger helping himself to 20 runs off the 2nd over.

Next up we faced Beaumaris, again bowling first, and this time restricting them to 6/34 off their 8 overs. Aidan again taking 2 wickets, as did Azam Chelakkadan. The run chase again lasted to the 4th over, time with Josh Smith and Rajit Kalra making the runs.

In the final we faced Parkdale, bowled first, and restricted them to 6/50 off their 8 overs. A brilliant bowling and fielding display really was setting us up for the run-chase. Highlights with the ball were Lewis Sellenger (2/8), Jesse Austin (2/5) and Thivi Salwathura (2/20).

The run chase began cautiously as Lewis and Thivi set about chipping away at the total. The boys made half the total before Thivi skied one to be caught behind. Lewis then took the match away from Parkdale with some big boundaries to pass them in the 6th over with 15 balls to spare.

The team progress to play SEDA in a 20 over match on Tuesday 21 February in the Southern Metro Region Quarter Final.

SENIOR BOYS CRICKET - SMR QUARTER FINAL VS SEDA COLLEGE

Senin Seymour of Year 11 has led the Senior Boys Cricket team to an astonishing victory in the SMR Quarter Final held on Tuesday against SEDA College.

Senin compiled 152 not out off just 50 balls in a swashbuckling display of batting. 138 of those runs came from boundaries with Senin smashing 15 sixes and 12 fours.

Senin was wonderfully supported by opener Lewis Sellenger’s 40 runs off 20 balls, and Rajit Kalra’s 93 runs off 33 balls, as the team finished their 20 overs on 5/300.

Lewis then did the job with the ball as well, collecting 4 wickets as we comfortably defended the total.

Next week the boys move onto the SMR Semi FInal next Thursday where they will face Melbourne High, and hopefully later that day the SMR Final against either Dromana SC or Koo Wee Rup SC.

Highlights for the day included:

- accurate bowling from Aspen Lehmann who rattled the stumps a number of times

- 46 not out from Bianca Sguario in our second pool game

- excellent running from Caitlin Lyon and Rowen Hull in the final after a small batting collapse

YEAR 12 SOCCER

On Thursday 9 February the traditional Year 12 soccer game was held and what a success it was.

The stage was set and the crowd had arrived. Two rival teams fighting for one ultimate goal, to become the Year 12 soccer champions!

Wolligon Wools (footy boys) take on the Jedwards (soccer boys) in an epic shadow on the top oval. the Wools had kick-off and started firing shots early and soon enough Josh Feder had found a gap and slotted one into the bottom left and the Wools went crazy. Very soon after Jedwards were running into goal when Lewis Sellenger gives away a penalty and all eyes were on Hugo Vandame, although the pressure got to him and coughed it right up to the keeper. Jamie Lang with a fantastic equalizing goal early in the second half put the stress on the winning goal.

In the final minutes Lucas Boglis finds the ball at a stretch and puts it into the back of the net and the Wools were victorious.

Thanks so much to everyone involved especially Mr Hudd for umpiring and George for making the pitch perfect.
