Stranger Danger

Stranger Danger and Student Safety When Walking to and from School

The Region has been advised that a vehicle pulled up alongside a local Year 3 female student on her way to school.  The unknown male then asked the student to get in the vehicle.

The incident occurred in the vicinity of our school on 5 February at 8:50am.

The unknown male was described as being aged in his mid 30’s, tall with dark brown hair.

The vehicle was a red Ford Ute and had a black tarp. If you believe you have any information that would help police identify this man please ring Frankston Police Station:  9784 5555. If you see this man, immediately ring 000 and give details of registration and location of sighting and police in patrol cars may be able to immediately attend the location.

In light of this incident, Parents and Guardians are reminded to discuss with their children how they remain safe when walking to and from school.  It is recommended that students always where possible walk to and from school with others.  In the case of strangers approaching students or following them on foot or in cars it is recommended that students walk away and immediately if they have access to a mobile phone, dial 000 and report the incident to the police.  Where possible students should try and provide as many identifiable features of the stranger as possible including car registration numbers where appropriate.  Students need to report such incidents as soon as possible to parents and school coordinators.  The more immediate the response the more success police will have in locating these people.

I thank all parents and students for their support with this matter.
