Education in Faith

Faith, Family, Friendship

At Holy Spirit, we respectfully acknowledge the Wurundjeri people and their Elders past and present, who are the Traditional Custodians of the land on which Holy Spirit Community School is located.

A Prayer for our Confirmation Candidates

Lord, You send out Your Spirit to touch the hearts of all people, so that they may believe in You and in Jesus whom You sent.

Look kindly on all candidates for Confirmation as they listen to Your voice.

Open their eyes and hearts to Your Spirit

and bring to fulfilment the good work that You have begun in them.

As we prepare these children for Confirmation, make each of us an instrument

of Your peace and love.

Deepen our faith in the Gospel and help

us to pass it on by our example.

Amen

Please keep our Year 6 students in your thoughts and prayers as they prepare for their Sacrament of Confirmation next week.

PARISH NEWS

We hope all our Mothers had a beautiful day last Sunday spending time with their families.  The weather was glorious and we hope that you were truly spoilt and loved by your children.

Next week we have Confirmation for our Grade 6 children.  Parents are most welcome to join the children in their Confirmation Reconciliation to be held in the Church on Friday 19th May at 10.20 am.  A practice will be held in the Cathedral on Wednesday 24th March from 10am-12 noon.  The ceremony will be held on Thursday 25th May at 7.00 pm at St Patrick’s Cathedral.  Please keep these children and their families in your thoughts and prayers.  We pray that they will continue to grow in their knowledge and love of Jesus and be filled with inspiration by the Holy Spirit.

On Friday 26th May starting at 9.00 am through to midday in the Parish House, we will be hosting the Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea.  All are welcome to attend and if you would like to donate a cake, jams or preserves it would be greatly appreciated.  Let’s raise a cuppa and have fun together!

On Sunday 28th May we celebrate Pentecost the birthday of our Church.  As part of the celebrations, there will be a whole school mass on Friday 26th May at 11.45 am in the Church.  All are welcome to join the children in this special celebration.

As part of our commitment to the safety of children and vulnerable people, it is a requirement of the Archdiocese for all volunteers to complete online training and resigning of Code of Conduct every 3 years.  To make this easier we are holding a group training session on Wednesday 31st May at 7.30 pm in the Community Centre.  The session will be run by our Eastern Region Coordinator.  We will require your name, email address and current working with children card number.  If you know anyone wanting to join a parish ministry, please share this invitation with them.  RSVP by Friday 26th May to the Parish House.

Holy Spirit is a child safe parish.  We hold the care, safety and well being of children and young people as a central and fundamental responsibility of our Parish.

Spirit Magazine

The March 2023 Spirit Magazine is now being prepared. We would love any contributions you would like to share: photos from a community activity, back to school or first day stories or photos, achievements of our students and Alumni, articles you think worth sharing or a favourite digital resource.

Please email your inputs to thespirit@holyspiritparish.org.au by 24th March.

Thank you very much,

Yvette.
