CATHOLIC MISSION - SOCKTOBER FUNDRAISER THANK YOU

Last Friday, our new Year 12, 2021 Student Leadership Team, supported by our Student Representative Council hosted a ‘Walk in someone else’s shoes’ day, where students wore mufti socks to demonstrate their support of the work of Catholic Mission in Cambodia.

Our Year 12 Students demonstrated wonderful leadership skills; preparing individually packaged cupcakes and biscuits and making lolly bags to support our cake stall at recess. We had a hugely successful response to our fundraising with everyone getting involved. These funds, along with the proceeds of our House Day fundraising, to $4,166.55 throughout the year, will be forwarded onto Catholic Mission for their global fundraising effort to support the global appeal for Cambodia.

We thank you most sincerely for the community fundraising we have completed this year in response to the call from Catholic Mission. We are grateful for the generosity of our students, staff and families who make these contributions possible. Please view this special thank you from our friend in Cambodia Sros, a young resident at the Arrupe Centre in Battambang, Cambodia, who shares a heartfelt message of thanks to all Socktober supporters.

But God has so arranged the body, giving the greater honor to the inferior member, that there may be no dissension within the body, but the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together with it; if one member is honored, all rejoice together with it.

YEAR 8 REFLECTION DAY

Year 8 Reflection Day was held on Friday of Week 2, it was led by ‘Your Choicez’ and comprised a series of gender focused workshops to support students as they navigate relationships within our complex, digital world. Students worked with David and Katie Kobler throughout the day as they explored the concept of healthy relationships within our contemporary world.

The ‘Connections that Count’ Program for boys and girls helped students gain insight into how their online choices can affect their cognitive development, their relationships and their behavior. With the use of multi-media, powerful stories, and research based evidence, Choicez explored the real issues our students are facing and provided compelling strategies to support positive interactions both online and offline.

ALL SAINTS AND ALL SOULS FEAST DAYS

On Monday, our staff and students engaged in a Homegroup Prayer experience to acknowledge and celebrate the Feasts of All Saints and All Souls Day.

To bring personal meaning to this experience, everyone was invited to the Peace Garden to light a memorial candle for a lost loved one and write a message to place in the trees to one of God’s angels.

We give you thanks, O God, for all the saints who ever worshiped you

Whether in brush arbors or cathedrals,

Weathered wooden churches or crumbling cement meeting houses

Where your name was lifted and adored.

We give you thanks, O God, for hands lifted in praise:

Manicured hands and hands stained with grease or soil,

Strong hands and those gnarled with age.

Holy hands,

Used as wave offerings across the land.

They left their mark upon the earth for you, for us, for our children to come.

Thank you, God, for the tremendous sacrifices made by those who have gone before us.

Bless the memories and legacy of your saints and all the souls of our faithfully departed, God.

May we learn how to walk wisely from their examples of faith, dedication, compassion, and love.

AMEN
