Learning and Teaching Update

'We aim to provide a school environment where ‘Every person can flourish and be known’ This means that our teaching program identifies the unique needs of each individual student, and delivers a learning program designed to grow them into the best person that they can be'.

Dear Parents and Carers

St Anthony’s has been bustling with learning activities, assessments, making connections, building relationships, play, sport, art, drama, language learning and so much more this term. As I wander through the learning spaces, I see teachers and school staff deeply engaged with small groups of students, individual students and whole groups. There is a buzz that reflects students’ conversations as they problem solve, work collaboratively with each other, challenge and learn!

The teachers have started to assess student learning and we do this in many ways at

St Anthony’s. So, students have opportunities to show their understanding through the day, every day and in different ways.

Last week, we completed the PAT Maths Test with our Foundation(Prep) students.

We were delighted to see that in Mathematics, 97.4% of students have grown in their Numeracy learning since the last time they did the test in March. What is more exciting is that 64.1% of students met or exceeded the expected Scale Score for this time of the year, 20.5% of students are nearly there, and 15.4% of students are not there yet.

Below is a column graph of the Scale Score in Mathematics of every Prep Student, Blue represents March data and Red represents November data.

In the PAT Reading Test, again we have97.4% of students who have grown in their Reading since the last time they did the test in March. 51.3% of students met or exceeded the expected Scale Score for this time of the year, 28.2% of students are nearly there, and 20.5% of students are not there yet.

Below is a column graph of the Scale Score in Reading of every Prep Student, Blue represents March data and Red represents November data.

This data tells us that in spite of Covid and the remote learning situation in Term 2 and Term 3, the students have continued to learn and grow. The teachers will use this data to target the students for the next 3 weeks, so that learning will continue.

We thank you again for all the hard work you have done with your children this year. Their learning and growth is a testament to how important the relationship between families and the school is! We will continue to work together to ensure our students have the best opportunity to learn and grow.

Kindest Regards
