Parish News

'We are committed to the safety, wellbeing and dignity of all children and vulnerable adults.'

Hi all,

I hope you are well, this email is being sent to all members on our Parish Pastoral Councils and our Parish Finance Committees. As you may be aware, the Royal Commission into Sexual Abuse into our Church and other Institutions have made many new findings. We Priests are no longer in charge of our Schools. Our new role is to be the Spiritual and Pastoral Leader within our school community. CEM which is Catholic Education Melbourne will cease to exist on 1/1/2021. Our new Governing body for our Catholic schools in Melbourne will be known as MACS, Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools.

The Archbishop will remain in charge, a new Executive Committee has been put together. They will advise the Archbishop in all things of Education. All staff will fall under the care of MACS, as will the responsibility of all our Schools. Most of Australia have already moved into this new model.

Our Schools will remain our Parish property, but they will be managed by MACS. Government requirements need to be completed ASAP so that the Royal Commission findings will be in place on the 1/1/21. I have had to look at each building on our property of both community’s and assign them as belonging to the parish, School or are shared. The following paper work I hope will explain this process. If you have any suggestions or clarifications please respond ASAP as this needs to be submitted over this weekend.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Brian Collins
