Cricket
Calrossy have managed to exclusively obtain the Services of well renowned Cricket coach Brendan Lyon for a “Calrossy Clinic” on the first Friday of Term 1 Week 1 at the WCC Campus. This will be available for all Calrossy Cricketers and from K-12 and coaches of these teams as well. Brendan has been to Calrossy on two other occasions and we are very excited to have him back with us at the beginning of next year.

Douglas Shield Cricket
Our Douglas Shield Cricket team had a great win last week in the first round of the 2020/21 Douglas Shield Competition against Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School who met Calrossy at Sawtell for the match. Brothers Will and Tom Aitken lead the batting attack with innings of 28 and 27 respectively, with Calrossy finishing 8/125.
The fielding display by Calrossy was very impressive and was a contributing factor to the final result. It was an all round team effort.
Will Doyle’s catch behind the stumps off Ben Sleeman was the first wicket to fall. Ben Sleeman’s second wicket came after Stuart Brissett’s catch at mid-on.
A very impressive direct hit run out by Will Doyle was followed with another catch by Will Doyle off Will Aitken. The bails started flying when Chloe Scicluna was given the ball resulting in 2 wickets in her 2nd over, a third wicket from a sharp catch in slips by Ryan Stewart summed up an awesome day with the ball for Chloe. Calrossy was certainly in with a chance with Lindisfarne 6/71 after 18 overs. The catching display continued when a catch was taken from the sharp reflexes of Sam Holmes at silly mid-off leaving the batting side 8/86. The score for Lindisfarne didn’t change with Ryan Stewart destroying the stumps.
Brought late into the side for the unavailable Matthew Holmes was Doug Brissett who collected 2 of the 3 final wickets sealing an extraordinary win in the 25th over for Calrossy’s 1st XI. Chloe Scicluna bowled 3/14 off 4 overs and Ryan Stewart 1/8 off 5.3 overs. It was great to see the team's hard work and training pay off, with all the players demonstrating great sportsmanship and teamwork. Thanks to Shawn Meppham and Jackie Holmes for touring with the team. Attention now turns to the Wiburd Shield when we play Carinya next week Monday in Tamworth.
