No visitors on site
Parents are reminded that non-essential visitors are not allowed on-site at school, unless they have Principal’s permission. Whilst we are having some events where parents are now allowed on-site, this is in a controlled manner, with heavily regimented processes, time limits and are restrictions. Parents and students are to be kept separate. Please adhere to these requirements.
Final Fortnight of School - Term 4 2020
Whilst we would love for all parents to attend the functions and special occasions which mark the end of the school year, in 2020 this will not be possible. Calrossy has followed the current regulations which require four square metres per person and with staff and students in the WCC Hall we are at capacity. Functions will be filmed and available for parents to view after each event: Prep Concert, Year 6 Final Assembly and Presentation Day. It is our hope that special memories can be made, traditions can be upheld, and parents will feel included.
NAPLAN School Readiness Test
In 2021 Calrossy has chosen to undertake NAPLAN Online. In preparation for this, schools undergo a School Readiness Test. This is a test of the school infrastructure, not the student’s ability, as the test demands a significant use of our technology services. Year 2 and Year 4 will participate in this test during the week, as they will be the years who sit the test in 2021 when they are in Year 3 and Year 5.
P&F BBQ
The P&F will be hosting a BBQ for Parents on the WCC Campus on Wednesday 25th November. This may seem contrary to all advice, but as it is being held outside and there are not students involved, this can go ahead. Parents are most welcome to attend.
Carols Night
This year our Carols Night will be presented online and available for families to watch on Wednesday 2nd December. Our Carols Night presentation features students from across the whole school.
Mufti Day
Wednesday 2nd December will be the final Primary School mufti day. Please bring a gold coin donation to support our Compassion Child. Mufti clothes must be sun safe and appropriate – please no t-singlets or very short shorts. Feel free to add a touch of Christmas to your outfits.
Prep Final Day
The last day of Prep for 2020 is Wednesday 2nd December. Prep students do not attend school or Presentation Day on Thursday.
Primary Presentation Day
Presentation Day will be held for our Kindergarten to Year 6 students on Thursday 3rd December. Students will gather at 10:45am for an 11am start in the WCC Hall. It is a compulsory formal school occasion. It will conclude by 12:30pm and this will be the end of the School Year. There is no school following the conclusion of Presentation Day. All students should be collected from school at this time. There will be limited supervision for students unable to be collected. This event will be recorded and packaged and placed on the Hub for parents.
Students must be in their full Summer uniform, with neat and tidy hair and polished shoes.
Students should not bring a hat or bag to school on Presentation Day. Fruit break and morning tea will need to be in a disposable bag. Students will not return to the classroom after Presentation Day.
Student collection on Presentation Day will be as follows through the Kiss and Drop Lane:
- 12:30pm Kindergarten, Year 1 and their siblings
- 12:40pm Year 2, Year 3 and their siblings
- 12:50pm Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6
If you arrive before your scheduled collection time, please enter the school, park and wait in the gravel carpark, rather than queuing down Moore Creek Road. It may be easier to do this by proceeding down to the roundabout at Verdelho Drive and doing a u-turn then entering Calrossy by turning left from the Moore Creek Road end. Please be patient, we will load students as quickly as possible. Please stay in your car.
Belongings
During Week 8, students will take their school belongings home over Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Please send a sturdy reusable shopping bag each day, to ensure these items get home safely.
2021 Classes and Staffing
We have been actively seeking staff to fill the vacant positions from Staff resignations and Maternity Leave. Once these positions have been filled, all the staffing for 2021 will be announced. Can I remind you, that once staff have been announced, at no point will the School accept parent requests.
Staff and Class decisions are made with much consideration and following due process. The teaching staff who make these decisions have the needs of each student in the year group at heart and want the best for every child. They will make decisions which consider all the children and not just one or a few. Above all, the final decisions rest with the Head of Primary. Your observance to this process is much appreciated.
Students and Parents will be notified of the 2021 classes once they are finalised.
Reports
Semester Two reports are being prepared and will be uploaded to the HUB before the end of Term. You will be sent an email when they are available. There are no formal Parent Teacher Interviews in Term Four, however, should you wish to discuss something with your child’s class teacher you may do so, by making an appointment through the Primary Office.
