Performing Arts

Last Thursday, November 5th, our students participated in an amazing celebration of song. We joined the Music: Count Us In Celebration Day, an event that brought together hundreds of thousands of school children from all over Australia as they connected via livestream to perform the same song, on the same day, at the same time! 

Music: Count Us In is an initiative of Music Australia. It exists to advocate for and celebrate music in Australian schools. SJV registered and participated in this inspiring event last year also. What better way to recognise and acknowledge that we are all part of a big supportive community then by singing together at the same time? Even more significant given the circumstances of 2020.

In accordance with local health advice, we were unable to sing as a united choir. Instead of using our voices to sing, we performed parts of the song using the Auslan Translation ('sign language'). The children were engaged completely in the moment. Here are some photos from the SJV Celebration Day 2020 style...
