Chromebook Purchasing for Year 3, 2021

After five successful years with Chromebooks at St Joseph’s, we will be continuing with the 1:1 Chromebook program across grades 3-6 in 2021. As a result, all students will be required to use a Chromebook device.

We have once again set up a purchasing portal with Learning with Technologies (LWT) to make this process as cost-effective and simple as possible. We have worked with LWT to provide you with warranty and insurance options and Google Management Licenses to cover the Chromebook. LWT have provided two options this year and both devices are recommended due to their testing in educational settings and their durability. However, as Chromebooks have become more available in retail stores, you are more than welcome to source your own, as there may be cheaper options out there - so long as it is a Chromebook, the choice is yours.

The purchasing portal will close on Friday 4th Dec to allow maximum time for delivery to the school. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions by contacting Ben Sandison via email or at the school gate.

Tips for Accessing Student Work 3-6

The great thing about Google Apps for Education is that they can be accessed on any device. Each student in grades 3-6 has their own Google account, which is managed by the school. As stated in the Chromebook User Agreement, students are able to share their login details with parents so that you can log in to their accounts to have a look at the work that they are doing at school.

In years 3-6, Google Classroom is the primary place to find completed and upcoming work, so why not share some quality time with the kids and ask them to discuss their work with you.
