Christmas Card Connection - 5/6 Shaw

Dear Parents,

Lilly, Ken and Johann here, we are part of the 5/6 community as well as 5/6 Shaw.

We have been learning how it is very healthy and important to belong to a community. We belong to the Catholic school community of St Luke’s and the wider community of St Brendan’s Parish. Being part of these communities can have a positive effect on our mental health and our emotional wellbeing. It provides us with a sense of belonging and

being socially connected.

Some adults in our parish need extra social connections, but now, due to coronavirus

they need it more than ever. As part of our Religious Education Unit ‘Witnessing and Proclaiming’ the Year 5/6 Shaw students are launching a project called ‘Christmas Card Connection’. We feel this is a creative way to help us all connect this Christmas.

We will be making Christmas Cards in class and running card making classes

during lunchtime  starting Friday 13th November.

We are asking families from our St Luke’s Primary School community to donate a small candle, Christmas ornament, soaps, hand cream or little Christmas chocolates for us to attach to the cards we make.

Children can take the gifts to their classroom and we will collect them weekly.

Thank you for your support.

People Supporting People 5/6 Johnson

As part of our Religious Education Unit this term, the Senior Learning Community have been learning about spreading the good news. 5/6 Johnson decided to support a local organisation run by a man called Azem Elmaz. His organisation is called 'People supporting People'. This organisation helps the poor and homeless. We were inspired by his kind actions to our community and decided to help empower his undying love for the needy.

We hope to help Azem and his organisation in the near future by encouraging parents, teachers and students to donate the following items:

  • Disposable coffee cups
  • White sugar
  • Long-life milk
  • Cereal
  • Teabags

Over the next two weeks, 5/6 students will be collecting donations from classes each morning. A basket will also be available at the front office foyer, for donations.

Thank you in advance for your support, Sarah Mathew on behalf of 5/6 Johnson.

St. Vincent de Paul 5/6 Sait

Hello Parents/Guardians,

This Term the year 5/6's have been learning about helping and caring for the less fortunate as part of our Religious Education topic, Witnessing & Proclaiming. Each 5/6 class has chosen a charity to donate to.  5/6 Sait has chosen St. Vincent de Paul.

What is St. Vincents de Paul Community?

This is a charity that helps the less fortunate with donations they receive from others. This charity is all across Australia, we even have a local one here in Shepparton. You may have seen their shop when you have gone down the street.

What should I donate?

We kindly encourage parents and guardians to donate new clothes if you are able to do so. Send the donations with your child to school and the students in 5/6 Sait will collect the donations from your child's class. You will have till the 12th of November to donate.

We hope that you bring in some donations.

From the 5/6 Sait Class.
