Deputy Principal's Updates:

Book Week

Wow Wow Wow! What a fabulous day everyone had last Friday. We managed to avoid the rain and have a whole school parade (socially distanced outside). The costumes, colour and excitement from both students and staff was terrific. A big thank you to everyone who made the day a success, students staff and particularly parents. Special mention must go to Miss Bergamin (and her Mum) who made the Bluey costume, it was an absolute hit with everyone. I've already put my order in for next year :)

Winners of the colouring competition are:

Navya Mudaliar, Maritta Rekku, Darcy Armstrong, Elaine Shinto, Felix Shiby and Braxton Camm. Please collect your prize from Mrs Findlay.

Here are just a few pictures taken on the day. We hope you enjoy them.

Mysterious Egg Found

Last Friday some of our Foundation - Two students along with their teachers found a mysterious egg in the gardens of Eco Park (as part of the Book Week theme Curious Creatures). Some amazing writing took place as part of this activity. I can't wait to share some of this writing with you in the next few weeks.

World Teachers Day

Last Friday was also World Teacher Day and it would be remiss not to mention the wonderful teachers we have at t Luke's. On behalf of the school community I would like to say a big THANK YOU to all our amazing teachers. You do a fabulous job!!

Thank you for your patience.

Our beanies and scarves have arrived and are available from Quality Teams to purchase.  The cost of the beanie is $19 and the scarf $14.

Uniform Committee

If there are any parents who would like to be part of the Uniform Committee we are looking for helpers. Tasks include reviewing and updating uniforms when needed and supporting our pre loved uniforms. Please see Kaylene Armstrong or myself if you would like to assist.

Literature Circles

Over the last two terms a number of Year 6  students have been participating in Literature Circles where they have met weekly to share and discuss a select novel. It has been wonderful to see students grow in confidence in the groups and develop new skills in presenting their ideas and opinions.

Library Books Returns

A friendly reminder that many students have books borrowed from the Learning Centre, some up to 5-6 books.  Could these be returned as soon as possible please. Borrowing books will cease around Week 9 to allow for returns and a clean out of the books.

Chess Club

The last two weeks, 20 or more students from all different classes participated in Chess Club. It's held in the Learning Centre every week. Beginners can come Thursday at recess and experts on Friday. If you have any questions you can see us at the Learning Centre.

Isaac, Emil, Harshil, Jaiden, Liam, Tyrone and Nicholas. (Chess Club Committee)

5/6 Music With Mr Mac

This term the 5/6 students have had the opportunity to experience the musical instrument of the glockenspeil and metallophone. It's wonderful to be in the office during these classes and hear the beautiful noise that comes from the Learning Centre.

Middle Learning Community Art Work

Congratulations to all the Middle Learning Community for their amazing efforts with their latest piece of art work. The snake is proudly displayed in the front office for the time being until the new building is complete where we will find a permanent home for it.

Book Club

Book Club Issue 8 is coming home tonight with your child, along with orders from the previous issue.  If you would like the office to hold onto your order, rather than be sent home (as it might be a gift) please let us know.

No sharing of food

Unfortunately due to co-vid restrictions we are unable to celebrate students birthdays at school with shared/individual party food brought from home.  We will let you know when this restriction is lifted. Thank you for your support on this restriction.

Have a lovely weekend everyone,

Maree Findlay
