Prayer

God has given us commandments to follow. God’s commandments aren’t meant to make our life difficult. They’re meant to show us the best way to live. They’re meant to keep us close to God and God’s great love for us. They’re meant to help us find our true peace and happiness – with God.

(Matthew 11: 16 – 19)

Jesus continued, “How can I account for this generation? The people have been like spoiled children whining to their parents, ‘We wanted to skip rope, and you were always too tired; we wanted to talk, but you were always too busy’. John came fasting and they called him crazy. I came feasting and they called me a lush, a friend of the riffraff. Opinion polls don’t count for much, do they? The proof of the pudding is in the eating”.

Let us pray:

God living among us, let your peace, love, hope and joy flow through us this Christmas season.

May we once again take up the challenge of hearing your voice amid this busy place. 

Transform our hearing as we move through the crowded shopping spaces and the busy Christmas day and festive season, so that your Word will not come back to you empty.

Help us to remember to stop and think of all those who will go without and to be grateful for all we have. Amen
