STEM Academy

Run By The University Of Sydney

At the end of last year Maths, Science and TAS teachers from the College took part in a STEM academy run by the University of Sydney. As a result a STEM project was developed for Year 7. In Science, students chose a government department to work in, with the aim being to settle Mars. They were then asked to create either a design or a strategic plan for their department. This process took place in both Maths class and Science class where students built projects linked to Mars. The emphasis was to reinforce with students the strong links between Science and Mathematics and to understand how to best use the design process involved in TAS.

Thank you to our Year 7 students who were very engaged in the project and to the dedicated teachers involved in developing and implementing it. We look forward to further collaboration with other Year groups in 2021.
