On Thursday 19th November, over 70 Year 9 Peer Support leaders participated in their training day, completing activities to prepare them for next year.

These activities were planned to reinforce the idea that Peer Support not only supports the new Year 7 cohort but allows our future Year 10s to become resilient, approachable, problem-solving leaders.

A real highlight of the day for many was our focus on everyday leadership and how sometimes the smallest of actions can make the biggest difference. Students were encouraged to think of their own ‘lollipop’ moments and how they might be able to create such things for the new Year 7s.

After our initial discussions and brainstorms, the day became all about making connections with one another and polishing up our team-work skills. The Teresa leaders took out the crown for the most organised team in House Bingo with King and Benedicta close behind.

It was the Robot Sandwiches that really tested their communication skills, with each team in charge of instructing a blindfolded staff-member to make two different types of sandwiches. This activity required very specific instructions and reinforced our need to choose our words carefully, something reiterated in our blindfolded drawing task later that afternoon.

Overall, the day was a huge success and every student involved should be very proud of their growing leadership skills.

Thank you to Miss Bonet, Mr. Hull, and Mr. Pilon for all their help and support throughout the day.
