Learning and Teaching Update
Welcome to another newsletter. It was a busy two weeks at Holy Spirit. Classroom assessments were undertaken, Reconciliation preparation continued and many Buddy class catch-ups happened.
I hope you all had a chance to view the Parent Information Night videos that were sent home last week. They contained lots of useful information to ensure your child/children have a successful year at school this year.
We have some exciting news ...
At the conclusion of 2020, while our Year 6 students were at Camp, our Year 5 students took part in a STEM challenge. To design a new playground for Holy Spirit was their task for the week. In teams, students used the Engineering Design Process to create their playground. They interviewed students in the school, constructed questions, gathered data, used Tinkercad to create a digital design, built a model, received feedback and edited their final design. At the conclusion of the week, the students chose their favourite design and voted for a Top 3.
The Top 3 group's designs were sent to our Playground designer, Angus and his team at Cumulus, the final vote in what our new playground at HS would look like. The team at Cumulus were so impressed with our designs that they choose to incorporate all aspects, in some way, in our final design.
The top right corner contains the student's designs - the inspiration for our playground.
Our playground is currently getting built and we are so excited to welcome this new addition to our school playground space.

(Please note that this playground has not been installed yet - these are virtual images created for us to show our students)
Congratulations to the Year 6 students who's design was used to create our new monster playground. These students will be part of the grand opening for our playground.
Congratulations:
Cobra Cave: Archie, Jono, Beau, Noah, Aiden and Billy
The Watermelon: Matthew, Ben, Lucas and Daniel
Octopus: Cleo, Grace, Addi, Ava and Amelie
We are so excited to see this playground come to life in it's new home at Holy Spirit.
Have a great week everyone & Keep smiling!
