A Message from the Principal

Mrs Pauline Long

Dear Parents and Carers,

Last week at the Principals' meeting in Armidale we discussed the challenges of School Improvement.  As a school we aspire to be an authentic Catholic Community of care; by providing quality learning and teaching for all students and staff. We acknowledge the importance of team work to achieve our goals. Staff, students and families need to work together to achieve the best possible educational outcomes for your children.

St Joseph's 2021 Annual Improvement Plan

Over the next few weeks I will give more detail about the strategies we will put in place to achieve our goals. The students have been introduced to the 'Living Well Learning Well' framework and I ask our parents and carers to read the following important page which highlights how families can strengthen partnerships between home and school. Please have a discussion with your children about what we do at school to keep them safe, to feel valued, respected and cared for.

At St Joey's we have a focus on learning and next week all parents and carers have the opportunity to meet with their child's teacher at our 3 Way Parent, Student & Teacher conference. This meeting is a perfect opportunity to share student learning goals and make a commitment to supporting your children in their learning. Please log into Compass to select your meeting time. From the Compass Home page click the hamburger menu button at the top left (three horizontal bars) and the select 'Conferences'. Select Term 1, 2021 Parent/Teacher/Student 3 way cycle.  Select your child's profile. Select the appropriate teacher.  Select your preferred time slot and click confirm booking.

Next Wednesday 3rd March we have a PT & F meeting at 6.00pm in the school library. I especially encourage our new parents to attend this meeting; it is a wonderful opportunity to make friends and find out more about our school.

Please keep our students preparing to make their First Holy Communion, this Sunday 28th February, in your prayers.

Have a happy and safe week.

Pauline Long
