The first 15 days

Congratulations to staff and students for establishing such productive classrooms. Our aim for the first 5 weeks is to practice routines and learning behaviours to have every classroom a calm, supportive, yet busy place of learning.

We have set some targets for the start of the year:

  • focused rooms
  • trusting relationships
  • happy students
  • clear routines
  • belonging and pride in each room
  • engaged and successful learners.

Please ask your child about the routines, expectations and sense of belonging they have built up in their classroom.

COVID guidelines

We are still operating under the guidance of NSW Health regarding safety and hygiene precautions. At GEPS you can be assured that your children:

  • sanitise regularly (under the supervision of teachers)
  • use cough and sneeze etiquette
  • have adequate supplies of tissues, wipes and soap
  • have equipment wiped down regularly
  • have extra cleaners come into their rooms each day.

Also - student, staff or parents who are unwell are not able to come to school. If your child is sick (or sent home sick) you will be asked to get a COVID test. You can only send your child back when you have the results - and you have sent them to your class teacher on Dojo or shown the result to the office.

Parents on site: please be reminded that you are able to drop-off and collect your child. You must: stay outside the rooms; keep your distance; and be quick about coming and going!

If you are here for a meeting or invited to a special assembly - you must go to the front office to sign in, using the Service NSW app.

I thank our whole school community for working together on these issues to keep us all safe!

Uniform

School uniform is a mandatory part of being at a government school.

At GEPS - we have a very simple uniform policy and uniforms are on sale at the Uniform Shop each Friday 9-9:30am.

Please ensure that your child is wearing the green and gold every day - and that they have the correct school hat (as uniform and for sun safety).

Gold Badge awards

Last year's badge

Next Monday (22 Feb) is our first Gold Badge Assembly for 2021. If your child is getting a Gold Badge you would have received a note informing you and inviting you to the assembly in the hall. At this stage - only parents of the gold badge awardees are invited, as a COVID precaution.
