VCAL PDS Class 12E

Clean up Australia Day

I was a member of the health and wellbeing team that was responsible for clean up Australia Day. What our role entailed was to make sure most of the equipment was ready to go on the day such as the garbage bins, gloves, rakes etc also organising where we were going to put the rubbish away after everyone was done. We also had to decide on what prizes we wanted to offer. The health and wellbeing team had to speak with the bakery to see if they would offer some free lunch vouchers from the bakery as prizes. After the planning stage was complete we started writing our speech which highlighted Clean Up Australia Day to other VCAL students so they knew when and where we were holding the Clean Up Australia Day event. The speech had to include the time, the day, location, what equipment would be used and so on. When the day of the event arrived and we were organising last minute tasks Jack and I, members of the health and wellbeing team were instructed to walk around to the various areas and ensure everyone was safe and doing their job. We also had to observe the people that where doing really well so we could award the prizes to the people that where doing the best. At the end we thanked all the VCAL students for helping us, gave out the prizes to the nominated students and achieved what we wanted to do.

Easter Activities Week

We did an Easter stall and sold hot cross buns, hot chocolate sticks, Easter chocolates and sold raffle tickets. We had and the prizes that included chocolate bunnies and eggs. Anthony and I were making the hot chocolate sticks by melting chocolate and putting in cups with spoons in it. Nick and Evander made the chocolate bite by melting chocolate and pouring it into moulds. Nick P, Nick C and James made hot cross buns. They made the dough, rolled it into buns and then Danette cooked them in the oven. They made hot cross buns with chocolate chips in them and some with sultanas. Kaleb, Jack and Michael sold the raffle tickets and did the marketing for it by making posters and putting them up around the school so everyone would know it was happening and where to go.
