Students of the Month

Congratulations to the following students for being recognised for outstanding efforts for this month.

Fadi Jando (C1) - Chang

Although Fadi started the school year as a new arrival student from Iraq, he quickly learned to make friends, established positive relationships and more importantly, embraced the Australian culture. Fadi has become such an integral part of Catholic Regional College Sydenham, he offers help to all those who need it, humbly displaying the values of our college. He was recently asked to help mentor and guide another Iraqi who has only been in the country for the past two months, Fadi gladly took up the offer by going above and beyond. The Chang Cluster would like to acknowledge Fadi’s wonderful spirit and his desire to make others happy no matter what it takes. Thank you Fadi for being such a gift!

Glydel Lawang (W4) - Winton

Glydel Lawang has demonstrated exceptional efforts to step up and adjust to the demands of Year 11 over the course of her first term at CRC Sydenham. Her dedication to study, time management and organisation is to be commended.

Matthew Martello (B1) - Bradman

During his time at the Bradman Retreat Matthew developed himself as a leader of the Cluster. He inspired his peers to challenge themselves and overcome their fears when completing the high ropes course. He led mature faith discussions at the camp fire. In addition it is worth noting his efforts in the daily clean-up after meals, this was appreciated by both staff and students on the Retreat. Congratulations to Matthew on this most deserved acclamation.

Luke Zuzek (D2) - Dunlop

Over the past month Luke has exhibited the behaviours of a student who has taken up the challenge at CRC Sydenham.  On one particular day, under blustery conditions, a teacher dropped the book they were carrying.  Seeing the teacher had an armful of books already, Luke quickly offered to help pick up the books for the teacher.  This behaviour was again modelled on the Year 11 Dunlop retreat where Luke took up the call to attempt any challenge and when no one from his group wanted to be the first to experience the giant swing, he once again quickly offered himself to show the group there was nothing to fear.  Once he had completed his swing Luke continued to be a positive motivator for the rest of his group spurring them on to attempt the giant swing and push to greater heights.  It was a pleasure to see Luke working so well with others and taking on a real leadership persona as well as showing his generosity towards others.  This has truly earned him the student of the month.

Joel Spiteri (T4) - Truganini

Joel Spiteri is commended on his hard work in the arts and cultural life of the College. He is always happy to lend a hand! Joel has been proactive in assisting to establish and help the Monday afternoon Drawing Club and participating in music performances throughout the College. He is also dedicated to including and encouraging others. Well done, Joel!

Jay Williams (M3) - Mackillop

Jay is a courteous student, who supports his colleagues and supports them in all aspects of their life at the college. This was particularly evident at the Retreat where Jay supported all his classmates through the activities.
