Year 12 students: Welcome to Willoughby City Library
Year 12 students were impressed by the range of services, facilities & 24/7 eResources showcased by Willoughby City Librarian Margo Pavincich at last week’s Year Group meeting. Whilst many of our students gained membership as part of our Primary Library program, it was a chance for those who missed out to join-up and to see what’s on offer.
For all of us, it was an opportunity to take a fresh look at this amazing library, just next door. New innovations included:
- Access to State Library of NSW eResources. Margo highlighted the database, JSTOR as being particularly useful to extension English and History students.
- Single-searching on the library catalogue to access both text and digital resources.
Margo encouraged us to think of the public library as an extension to our own library offering extended opening hours, an enormous research collection, private and group study spaces, Wi-Fi and experienced librarians keen to help.
Margo’s visit enforced the view that the library is actively supporting Year 12 students with HSC Seminars and new Lock-In nights. Lock-ins run from 6 – 9 pm with professional tutors, librarians and food on hand to help students with their studies.
