Pink Day @ Oxford Falls - SPX, Blue Mountains Grammar and Oakhill Teams (SPX in the pink and blue shirts)
Welcome back to Term 4 sport. The District Cricket season is well under way and you can keep up with happenings through the Cricket Club Newsletter in Woodchatta. The Summer season begins for all other teams on 21st October and all NSTA Tennis, ISA Basketball and Cricket teams are now finalised. Parents of all ISA cricketers should expect some movement between teams throughout the season as selection will be merit based.
I would take this opportunity to remind everyone of the need for the correct sports uniform and personal equipment.
ISA Cricketers must make sure they have blazers and “closed toed” shoes for match days. Blazers must be worn over cricket whites for lunch and afternoon tea.
Could I also remind everyone that the College subscribes to and supports the ISA “Code of Conduct” and I ask that you familiarise yourselves with this document. The SPX Risk Warning is also attached below.
I look forward to seeing you all at some point during the season. Let’s make the Summer season as successful as the Winter one.
Mr M Stearn - Senior School Sportsmaster
Dear parents and swimmers of St Pius X College,
The new swimming season is fast approaching and we have already secured some important dates for the calendar as follows:

PLEASE NOTE: As a member of the St Pius X College Swimming Squad all members are expected to commit to these dates and make these a priority over any other commitments.
Please check Woodchatta for more detailed information regarding the program and times which will be issued as soon as possible. Mrs McCormack will be attending the two invitational carnivals on 27th October and 3rd November in Ms Proc’s absence.

Parents must help do the score bench at Home games on Saturdays. If you can help, please let the coach know or just take a seat at the Bench. Our referees are always happy to teach parents what to do.
Round 1 of the ISA season is this Saturday 21st October. Please check the attachment below for game times and venues. All new players who have not purchased a uniform for this Saturday’s game must see Mr Gibson at Friday mornings Basketball meeting.
C Teams: Next week our C teams are travelling to Oxley College at Bowral. Players will need to organise their own transport to their games. I can not provide a Bus to take players to Bowral. I will be organising a bus for Round 4 when our C teams Travel to the Blue Mountains.
B Teams: I will be organising a bus to take players to St Stanislaus’ Bathurst for Round 3. Travel times will be put into Woodchatta on the Wednesday 1st November.
Congratulations to our Firsts who finished 2nd to St Augustine’s in the ISA pre-season shootout. Both our Firsts and Seconds had a good day out and this was another opportunity for the teams to prepare for the season ahead.

Pink Day @ Oxford Falls
Last Saturday the 1st and 2nd XI combined with Blue Mountain Grammar School and Oakhill College for the fourth Pink Day @ Oxford Falls. Through the generosity of the SPX Cricket Club $500 has been donated to the McGrath Foundation to support their incredible work and a $160 individual donation was made to the Macquarie University Hospital to support their work with cancer patients. SPX players wore pink caps as well as pink and blue indigenous designed shirts to support women’s health.
1st XI Cricket Report – Saturday 14/10/17
The day was awash with pink but also showers unfortunately, which caused a two hour delay in the first game against Oakhill after 10 overs and the score at 3-43 for the SPX 1st XI. After the break Josh Rayner (58 not out) and captain James Brown (35) put on 69 in impressive style to help the score to 5-131 after 20 overs. Tight bowling, enthusiastic fielding and clever field placements restricted Oakhill to 4-102 with spinners Mac Carrall (1-14) and Tim McLachlan (2-21) the wicket takers.
The second match was reduced to 15 overs each. The home side’s innings was launched by Adam Greenwood (34), Tom Colgan (22) and Liahm Williams (34) who all took toll of any loose balls and ran well between the wickets. A wet ball and slippery conditions were overcome in the field as Carrall (1-8) was the best of the bowlers and two run outs led to a 21 run victory.
Leading into the competition next Saturday, these were two much improved performances but more importantly the day provided raising of awareness and funds for great causes.

NSTA Tennis
Yesterday an email was sent out to all NSTA players and their parents with information on this season, the draw, a copy of the teams and a Parent/Player Agreement form. The Parent/Player Agreement needs to be signed and returned to your son’s coach this Friday at the morning meeting. Should your son need a hard copy of this form he can obtain one from the Student Office.
Please ensure that your son has the correct uniform for the first game this week: blue sports shirt, plain white shorts and a school cap.
