HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON

FORT NEPEAN
The new year 8’s for 2019 visited Fort Nepean and the Quarantine Station, we got to explore different places in groups and find out information about Point Nepean, the first settlers and the Ticonderoga ship. We learnt about the past and how the forts and gun emplacements were constructed.
As we arrived we saw amazing views of the ocean and the landscape scenery. As we explored the tunnels at Fort Nepean there were different rooms/areas that had different purposes, like the bomb proof room which was used to protect soldiers and keep them safe from the firing of guns. After a while of exploring we got ready to go to the Quarantine Station to explore and learn more about the Stations history. When we got to the Quarantine Station people pointed out that there was an echidna near a bush, we went slowly and carefully to take photos as we realised if we moved or screamed we would end up scaring the echidna and we didn’t want to scare it away. Everyone was mindful and we were able to get multiple photos. Overall everyone had an amazing time getting to explore and discover more about the history and past of Point Nepean, it was an opportunity to work in groups and collect findings on our chosen topics.
