YEAR 12 CAMP

YEAR 12 CAMP

Our year 12 camp – the beginning of the end. All the talk leading up to the camp was about the torrential weather and how dreadful the 3 rainy, cold and miserable days were going to be but once we jumped off the bus and set foot onto the Summit grounds it couldn’t have been more perfect. All those negative vibes turned into everything above and beyond positive, ready for the challenges we knew awaited us in the days to come.

Broken off into 6 groups, we were separated from our social cliques to connect with those we weren’t so social with. Despite having the last 5 years to connect with our peers, turns out 3 intense days doing crazy activates was enough to create bonds like no other! Together, we conquered the leap of faith, sky walks, giant swings, rope courses in the trees, puzzles and obstacle courses requiring 150% teamwork and investment which prepared us for the biggest challenge to come – the “Monster Challenge”.

Our groups bound together arm in arm, up and over the obstacles, down the mud slides, swimming across rivers and army crawls through the mud, just like an epic episode of survivor made the activity so thrilling – especially upon completion. Not only was it a challenge to beat the opposing teams, it was a challenge that pushed our limits as a team and as individuals. The teamwork, the encouragement and the fighting drive to get every team member to the finish line was nothing short of amazing. Everyone in every team stepped up to the plate and it was phenomenal to see how many individuals achieved things they never thought they were capable of. The Monster Challenge was exactly that – a monster but it bought out the best in us all, leading into the beginning of our year 12 journey. The Monster Challenge reinforced the power we have when we work together and how successful we can be when working as a collective which was a big reminder for the year ahead.

In our down time fun card games, intense mind games and the minute to win it challenges we did on the first night bought so much energy to the camp site! The countless laughs and jokes created such a positive energy in the camp and made the experience so much more enjoyable. The 3 days we spent together, staff and students, overall were absolutely phenomenal. It was an experience we will never forget, and we couldn’t have done it without the fantastic staff who came with us! Their enthusiasm and encouragement did not go unnoticed and we, the year 12’s of 2019, would like to thank the teachers who came with us on this camp!

Leaving the camp, we walked away as a new cohort, with goals achieved and future goals to reach for. We are ready to conquer absolutely anything that gets thrown at us in 2019 and together we will achieve awesome things. Believe it or not these 3 days at the Summit has prepared and inspired us for the future year. We are so thankful for the fun, exhilarating and memorable experience we got, and with that we walked away, ready for the year awaiting us.
