From the Principal

I hope everyone enjoyed their family time over the holidays and that all our students are ready, willing and excited to take on the array of learning opportunities they will encounter this term. A few reminders to families:

  • Ensure your child has a padlock on their locker as children will continue to place valuables, phones and money in their locker even without a secure lock;
  • Mobile phones are to be out-of-sight and at all times during classes. Can families support the cause by not texting during the school day and/or expecting a quick reply from their children;
  • Provide notes for any absences from school;
  • Support their child’s learning by checking their diary for important dates/events, Showbie for class tasks and Sentral for attendance;
  • Ensuring that their child attends Home Group every morning;
  • Provide water, brain food and lunches daily.

There are exciting events to be held to culminate the year including awards days, performing arts evenings, sleepovers, camps, transition days and end of the year activities. It is really important that key dates are noted, and forms are signed and returned by the due date to ensure your child’s participation. You will also be receiving 2020 curriculum levies, book lists and iPad information for 2020. All forms are emailed to families so please update your email address if needed so that school correspondence is always received. Sometimes this may go direct to your junk mail folder for no apparent reason so please check if you do not receive this information.

Planning for Year 10 continues to take shape. Our teachers are planning curriculum and assessment tasks, collaborative partnerships with educational and private providers and work experience programs. Due to our changes, there will not be a Year 9 graduation evening, however we will organise a celebration activity in line with the process at other year levels on the secondary campus. The current Year 9 students will be the first Year 12 graduates in 2022. The current Year 5 students will stay on the secondary campus for Year 6 in 2020 and the current Year 4 cohort will stay on the primary campus for Years 5 & 6.

Thank you to all the families who attended the Parent Teacher interviews and assemblies at the end of last term. Our records indicate high participation. Once again, parents/guardians who are involved with their children’s learning help to deliver improved outcomes. Looking forward to a wonderful term four. Have a lovely weekend!
