Dear Parents and Friends
Congratulations to our Year 3 students who received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion on Saturday. All the students looked terrific and were very reverent throughout the ceremony. A special thank you to Father Cartwright and Father Michael for their support in preparing the students leading up to their First Holy Communion Day and for making this sacrament so memorable for them and their families. I would like to personally thank all the Year 3/4 teachers, Miss Munari, Miss Kane, Miss O'Neil, Mrs Graham and Mrs Davidson for the teaching and preparation of the students and thank you to Mrs D’Amato for coordinating the sacrament. A special thank you to Mrs Hedley for preparing the music and choir for this special day and to the school staff for attending this celebration.
Thank you to the Parents and Friends for hosting our First Holy Communion morning tea for the students and their families today.
As you are aware, all schools have developed policies and procedures in regards Child Safety. As part of the commitment, any person who works directly with children must have a current Working With Children card and have signed the St Fidelis’ Code of Conduct paperwork. According to regulations, the Code of Conduct must be completed annually. To assist in the management of maintaining our records, we will be sending home to all our listed volunteers this paper work in the week beginning June 11th. We ask that this be returned prior to the end of the term. Your cooperation in attending to this legal requirement will be greatly appreciated.
Protecting the safety and well-being of children through the reporting and monitoring of absenteeism is the responsibility of both parents/carers and schools.
It is now a Victorian Government requirement that:
I thank you for your support with this matter.
There are times when we will need to contact you, including on the day if your child is absent and you haven’t informed the school as to why. Do we have your most up to date contact details? If not, please contact the school via email fidelis@sfmoreland.catholic.edu.au or on the update details section on the school app so we can update our records. Please let us know if phone numbers, email address and emergency contact details change. Please remember to contact the school if any of these details or your circumstances change.
Teachers are currently working on student reports. I would like to thank them for all the work they put into ensuring that student reports accurately convey student achievements and that they are objective and evidenced based. Your child’s reports will be sent home on Friday June 22.
In the next newsletter in week 10, you will receive booking instructions for our Parent Teacher Interviews and Student Led Conversations which will take place in the last week of the term on Monday June 25 and Tuesday June 26. We have allowed 15 minute appointment times and all parents are expected to attend to discuss your child’s achievements and future learning priorities. Please be sure to view a very informative video about Student Led Conversations on Janine's page.
Thank you to the P&F for organising a very successful 'Biggest Morning Tea' to raise funds for the Cancer Council. It was great to see so many attend and thank you to all who donated. As a school community we raised over $600.
This Wednesday is the Feast of the Sacred Heart and all student will be attending mass at 9:15 a.m. Parents and friends are always welcome to attend our school masses.
Thank you to those families who have paid their school fees in full. Statements were sent home today. I'd appreciate it if you can ensure that your account is up to date.
I ask all parents to take care when dropping off and picking up children. It is essential that road traffic signs are followed, particularly the no standing and no parking signs at the school crossings on Saunders and Hawthorn Streets.
This sign on the right reads no stopping between the hours of 8 to 4 school days and on the left no parking between the hours of 8 to 10 and 2 to 4 on school days. Please do not park in this area. Council traffic officers do patrol this area and will issue a $148 fine.
We have our first school closure day this Friday June 8. Monday July 16 is also a school closure day. Term Three will commence for students on Tuesday July 17.
I hope you have a great week and enjoy the long weekend.
Kevin Gleeson.
