Focus!

A variety of events

On  7 December, Cecil Hills High School was a sea of green as it launched its positive behaviour for learning initiative – FOCUS. This program is an evidence based whole school process used to improve outcomes for all students.

On the day students attended a formal assembly in which they were introduced to the three core values: Respectful, Responsible, Successful. They were inspired by the winners from the Focus Public Speaking Competition, Angela Gonzales (Yr7), Khushi Kullar (Yr8) and Winston Fok (Yr 9), who spoke about these core values and what it meant to them. This was followed by the dynamic duo of Jarrod Carluccio, School Captain, and Jake Fenech, a former student, who not only shared their own experiences on the three core values, but also engaged the audience in thinking about how easy it is to be Respectful, Responsible and Successful.

The fun did not stop there. During the middle of the day, students visited the Green Treat Station, full of all things green – lollies, cakes, ice-blocks, jelly, and apples. When they returned to class they participated in a range of interactive mini lessons on the three core values.

At lunchtime, Dodgeball was the place to be, with a teachers vs students match. The teachers taking the crown, once again! The three-legged race, egg and spoon race, and photo booth were enjoyed by many and the SRC held a green hair spray salon, with donations going to Special Ed. The library also hosted a variety of events, that saw the students carving up the library floor with their amazing dance moves.

The FOCUS Team want to thank all the students and staff for their positive involvement during the day! It was awesome to see so many students’ already showing respect and responsibility which made the day such a success.
