Dear Parents and Carers,

As we end Term 1, I would like to congratulate all our students for their exceptional work this Term. For many of our students its their first full term at school. I’d like to thank our wonderful staff, teachers and ES for their continued dedication and care for our students. I am sure you will agree it’s been a big Term 1. As we reflect and look at all the events across the school it’s been an epic term with:

Last week we had our first meeting of the new School Council. I would like to congratulate all new parent members and position holders including Vaha Lino who has been elected as President, Katherine Plumber our new Vice President and Melissa Norris our new Treasurer. The election of the new council marks the end of Erica Brady’s term as President and School Council member. Erica has been President of the School Council for many years, more recently she has worked on our School Review in 2021 and on the Principal Panel this Term. Our school has been extremely fortunate to have had Erica in this role. We wish her and her family all the very best for the future at Somerville Secondary.

Finally from me, I’d like to wish everyone a Safe and Happy Easter, my family are going to be spending the holidays playing with our new puppy Ernie a 10 week old dalmatian. He is already getting up to lots of mischief!  As I am sure you are aware, I was recently appointed the substantive principal at Somerville. It is a position I accept with great pride and honour to lead such as wonderful school. I look forward to together with our community creating many great memories as we set our students up for success in life.

Have a wonderful Easter and I hope the Easter Bunny brings lots of eggs.

Kind Regards,

David
