'Be The Best That You Can Be'

Robotics at WHSC

This year at WHSC we have had an injection of Robotics throughout our Year 8 and 9 programs. Through the lens of the Design Engineering Year 8 program, all our Year 8 students will experience coding and robotics with our always reliable EV3 Mindstorms Robots. Additionally, Year 9 students in Robotics and Coding, who are seeking to further extend themselves in the area are also provided the opportunity to build and code their very own robotics designs that incorporate not only the EV3 Mindstorm robots but also Sphero’s and other resources which they believe will enhance their understanding. This is essential as our Year 9 students will need to truly skill up as they will be teaching younger students about their robotic designs and codes through our Community Connections program.

Finally, our true Robotic enthusiasts get to fully immerse themselves into everything robot-related in our weekly Robotics Club. Here students get a full choice of the massive range of robotic technologies that our College has to offer. From Drones to Lego Robots, Sphero’s, and even 3D Printing, everything is at their disposal!

An exciting addition exclusive to members of our Robotics Club is the new Lego Education Spike Prime, which is the most recent iteration of the EV3 Robotics. Students in the Robotics club will be exploring all about Robotics through these new robots with the potential for some participation in the Robocup Competitions in the future.

If you are keen to learn about some Robots in a relaxed and fun setting, make sure you come along to E03 every Wednesday at lunchtime to try out some Robotics with Mr. Gramatakos, Ms. Vogiatzoglou, and Ms. Ning.

VISUAL ARTS – Art Club is back!

On Monday 21st March, students participated in the ‘Art Club’. After a significant intermission of this treasured Visual Arts program, we are so excited to welcome students back into the studio post-pandemic. The revival of the Art Club has been made possible through the enthusiasm of Year 10 student Lillian, and the facilitation of Mr. Khairi Razaai. It is a welcoming space for our budding artists to hone their skills, collaborate and learn from like-minded students, and create bonds that transcend year levels that allow students to find a sense of belonging within the arts community at WHSC. Students learn how to work together to develop techniques and portfolios and communicate their passions through artistic endeavours.

The reinvigorated program is led by our students, providing the opportunity for them to share their expertise with their fellow artists. In the first session, students were introduced to the works of Henry Matisse and participated in an activity using techniques made famous by this iconoclastic artist.

The club is open to anyone wanting to explore their artistic abilities. Meetings are held every Monday from 3-4 pm after school in A01. Both students and teachers are welcome! To sign up or find out more about this program, contact kraz@whsc.vic.edu.au

2022 Open Night - Thursday 7 April

Last night was our 2022 Open Night and what a fantastic night it was! With over 200 people in attendance, the night thrived with music, food, demonstrations, presentations, and campus tours. Needless to say, our visitors seemed happy to be there soaking up the enthusiasm our student helpers and teachers showed for their school.

Families who missed out on this event can always contact the College via the school email or by filling in the 'General Enquiry' form via our website. You can also book a tour of the College via our website if you would like to see our school in action - just head to https://www.whsc.vic.edu.au/.

Thank you to all staff and students involved in the night and a huge thank you to our transitions coordinators, Mr. Ryan Joyce and Mr. Jeremy Woods for organising such a successful night. Below are some quick snaps captured of the night.
