Celebrating Gala Day
Friday, April 1st, was no joke! Instead, it was an exciting day for the Holy Family Senior School. Most students had been eagerly practising a sport to play against other schools in our Sporting Schools Gold District.
Our soccer team were phenomenal! Tadgh, the soccer captain, lead the team to several victories despite having only six or seven players on the field when they should have had nine and a few subs.
Also, the handball team were unstoppable! Playing as a team was their strength, not their unbeatable game plan guided by their captain Rotana.
Netball played very well and gained tremendous experience by competing against other schools. Mary, the captain, should be commended for her commitment to the sport and encourage her team to practise daily. Thank you to Mrs Sykes and Ms Drossaert for coaching the netball team during their own time.
The Volleystars had a great time competing against other schools at Dandenong Stadium. Thank you, Mrs Ellicano and King, for supporting the Volleystars team.
The T-Ball Team were amazing! They learnt so much on the day about the sport. Most of the students were from the 3-4 grades. Imagine what it will be like in year 6!
Next on our sporting agenda is cross country, held on Wednesday the 4th of May. I am so impressed with the degree of enthusiasm and participation from the students interested in participating in this event. Of note are: William, Emil, Jessica, Jane, Noah, Bhelissa, Richelle, Rotana, Ian, Mercy and Frankie, who have been training diligently for this upcoming event.
Cross-country running is an excellent way to improve cardiovascular health.
Take it easy, though. The trick is to improve gradually and consistently.
Having a growth mindset helps.
