Faith

Wow I can't believe that it is almost the end of Term 1! And what a wonderful term it has been with all of the learning that has taken place. We have even been blessed to have been able to come together as a school community to celebrate some liturgical celebrations such as the beginning of year Mass and Ash Wednesday.

This week, we enter into the 5th Week of Lent as we prepare to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday. Leading up to this glorious day, we commemorate some of the most significant events in the Catholic Church - Palm Sunday and the Easter Triduum; Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday.

I have attached a Bible Play Set based on the Easter story as told in Luke's Gospel. You might like to print it out as a school holiday activity and use it to re-enact the story of Jesus' resurrection.

Stations of the Cross

As Easter falls in the middle of the school holidays, we will celebrate this event as a school community once we return to school.

The Year 5/6 students will lead us in praying the Stations of the Cross on Tuesday 26 April at 2:30pm in the Library. You are warmly invited to come and join us.

Jesus dies on the cross
Jesus is placed in his mother's arms
Jesus is buried

Harmony Week

As we celebrate Harmony this week, we take time to think particularly of the people in the Ukraine, who are experiencing anything but harmony at the moment.

As a whole school Lenten action we will be aiming to support the work of  Caritas who have launched an appeal for the people of Ukraine.

Gold Coin Donation for UKRAINE

On Friday 8 April, when students wear their cultural dress, we ask that they give a gold coin donation. All of the money raised will go to the Ukraine Appeal. If we raise $65 we can provide 2 basic hygiene kits for a family or if we can get to $155 we can provide a social worker for one week to support displaced families. Let's join together and see how much money we can raise to support this worthy cause!

Prayer in Pyjamas

On Thursday 7 April at 6 pm, we will be hosting a Prayer In Pyjamas via Google Meet. This is a great opportunity to pray together not only as a family but as a faith community. The focus for prayer will be peace and harmony to celebrate Harmony Week, particularly considering what is happening in the world at the moment.

Have a wonderful, safe and restful break. Happy Easter to you and your families and I look forward to seeing you all in Term 2.
