The Term has gone very quickly

Week 10

Week 10

Hello Holy Family Community,

We are in the last week of term one and will soon be on the Easter holidays. I am currently on Long Service Leave and will be spending Easter with family and friends in New Zealand.

All the children and staff are ready for a well-deserved break. I want to thank the children and staff for their efforts this term. It has been quite a shift getting back to the day to day routines. Without the ongoing support of the staff, children may have found this challenging.

Camp

I can't wait for camp next term.
I can't wait for camp next term.

We have just about all the forms for the children who will be going to camp at the start of next term. I was surprised that the grade 3 children were the first group to get all their camp forms in. I think they are pretty excited about going to camp from talking to the children.

There is sometimes a bit of anxiety with children as camp approaches. Parents need to talk positively about camp and try to put the children at ease. All the children enjoy camp and share stories about the fun and adventures they experienced.

There are many benefits of attending camp:

  • Developing independence
  • Being involved in new experiences
  • Fostering teamwork
  • Developing self-confidence
  • Deepening relationships
  • Getting children outdoors
  • Helping to build self-esteem

Goodbye

I want to again say goodbye to Casey Sykes, who has been a great member of staff for the past three years and one term. Holy Family was Casey's first job as a teacher, and she has contributed enthusiastically to the life of the school. We know she will be an outstanding physical education teacher, and we wish her all the best in the next chapter of her career.

I hope everyone has a lovely Easter and returns to school safe and well on Tuesday 26 April.

Lenten Prayer

The Season of Lent
The Season of Lent

Forty days alone, a wilderness of thoughts, tempting and inviting thoughts, which could so easily have distracted You from Your task,

Your mission, Your vision.

Yet You emerged, stronger and more attuned to all that had to be done, despite a time constraint that to our eyes would have seemed hopeless.

We too live in stressful times. Demands are made of our time, which leaves so little for the important things of life.

We are easily distracted in the wilderness of our lives, by every call to go this way or that, to turn stone to bread, leap from mountains and do all that would keep us from the truth.

We listen to the voices of this world and ignore the One who endured all this and so much more and emerged triumphantly,

that we might not have to suffer so.

Forgive us, Father, when we get distracted from our task.

Forgive us those times when we try to be all things to all people and fail to be anything to anyone.

Amen.
