Wellbeing

Welcome back to all Preshil families
I am the Wellbeing Coordinator, working full time at Preshil (8:30am-4:30pm) and located at both Arlington and Blackhall Kalimna.
Referrals and Student Services are a part of my role, with added tasks of Parent Support Group (PSG) meetings, funding applications, assisting teachers with planning and writing of documents, such as Individual Learning Plans and completing the National Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD).
My door is open for students and parents to assist in any way with your child’s wellbeing or education needs. I can provide some short one-to-one sessions for your child and make recommendations for further assistance, if needed.
Please introduce yourself – I like to meet as many people as possible, as this gives me a better perspective of life at Preshil.
“The well-being and welfare of children should always be our focus.” Todd Tiahrt
Engage 1 on 1 Psychology
This year we welcome to Preshil a new psychologist from Engage 1 on 1 Psychology, Daniel Quin. Appointments can be made when a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) is in place. Medicare covers the full cost of these appointments. If you’d like to speak to Daniel directly, his number is 0434 953 403.
Daniel is a psychologist and teacher. He used to teach science and physical education at secondary level. He still teaches primary school physical education as a volunteer. Daniel has his own private practice in the CBD and a clinic in North Melbourne. Also, Daniel is a researcher in school engagement and has published peer-reviewed articles on engagement and school suspension. He is a parent of two school-aged children.
“When working with children and adolescents I draw on my experience as a psychologist, teacher, and parent to first establish a positive relationship. Once I have established a relationship I work with the young person to understand their experience of school, family and beyond, with the intention of working collaboratively to set goals for positive change.” (Daniel Quin)
