Year 7 Boys Cricket

The Year 7 Boys Cricket Team played Viewbank on Tuesday 3rd March.  Greensborough College won the toss and batted.

Max White and Ben Juleff open up and they got off to a quick start before Ben was dismissed.  Ben Howard batted at three come in.  He and Max started to accelerate the run rate before Ben was unluckily bowled after dragging the ball back onto the stumps.  Ben made a quick fire 10.

This bought Ryan Commandeur to the crease.  Max and Ryan settled into a steady rhythm by running hard between wickets, punishing the bad ball and keeping the good balls out.  This pair increased the run rate and put on approximately 80 runs before Max retired not out on 50.

Jack White then come in and supported Ryan well.  They kept up the run rate and Ryan bought up his 50 on the third last ball of the innings and retired.  Jack finished the innings unbeaten on 15 not out.

Greensborough made 2/138 off 23 overs.

Viewbank got off to a flyer, scoring 18 runs off the first 2 overs but they managed to dismiss Viewbank’s best bat, with a well caught catch behind square, which slowed the run rate.

The bowling was a little inconsistent with a number of wides and no balls as the bowling was shared around.  The ground fielding was generally quite good.  Max White, Ben Howard, Kane Kingsley and Cooper McCallum bowled well.  They dried up the runs and generally made it difficult to score.

Overall, it was a great team effort.  The boys encouraged each other all through the day.

Viewbank finished with 3/114 off their 23 overs.

In the end Greensborough had a comfortable win by about 25 runs.
