Where did you work prior to joining Wantirna College?

I have worked at Balwyn High School for the past 2 years, before that I worked casually at a variety of school including primary, private, special development, English language and single sex schools. I originally worked as an analyst programmer at Telstra after graduating Swinburne with a Bachelor of Information Technology.

What attracted you to becoming a teacher?

I enjoyed my IT Professional career, but I did not find it fulfilling. I changed to teaching as I enjoy working with young people and helping them develop their creativity and IT skills. I am always making new connections and discoveries. I love extra curricular activities at schools and look forward to meeting as many students as possible through sports, camps and clubs.

How long have you been teaching

This is my 5th year as a teacher.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time I like to spend time with friends and family. I enjoy crafting like crochet and origami, swimming, geocaching and street orienteering. I also love reading! Being a teacher is fantastic as I have access to a library at all times. I love going to the beach (usually not on hot days as I get sun burnt easily) to explore, chase fish, dig holes, build castles, ride the waves and float. I love the zoo and in particular visiting the butterfly house and watching the koalas snooze.

What is your favourite book or movie?

I prefer fantasy comedy and science fiction like Terry Pratchett's Discworld and Long Earth; and Douglas Adams Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. I also enjoy musical theatre. I try to see all the shows when they come to Melbourne and I am looking forward to Wantirna's school productions.
