Production Camp
This year’s production camp was awesome. It was held at Gilwell Scout Camp and even though it was quite a long drive to do on a Saturday for most of us, it was worth it. The scout camp is in the hills so it is quite pretty and is also a really well set out place with facilities perfect for rehearsing in. On Saturday when we got there we got straight down to business. There was no messing about while we put our stuff in our rooms, set up and then got into rehearsing straight away. We got heaps done. That night we went through the full production of Beauty and the Beast, mostly just watching the main parts perform but adding in the things we had learnt that day. Watching how much the named parts had done in the first term and how far we had come already really helped everyone to see how awesome it was going to be and psyched us all up for the rest of the camp. Sunday was the day to get heaps done for everyone. We had rehearsals for the whole day and although we got pretty tired, I think we were all happy with our progress. That night we had a game of Capture the Flag. The teachers and students split into groups and were up against each other, so obviously it got competitive fast. I know that was a highlight for many of us. Monday we had a few rehearsals and packed up. I don’t know about anyone else but I was pretty sad to leave.
Food is always good at Production Camp, thanks to Kerry Lewis and her team, and this time it was no different. We had delicious meals every day and there was always fruit for anyone who wanted it. To make things even better, the beds were really comfortable and, even if some were a little small, the rooms were pretty good. We got to make so many new friends and meet all the people in and involved with production. We have already come so far with Beauty and the Beast and I am so excited to see and be a part of the finished product.
Jacqui Rogers (Year 10)
This year’s camp was the kick off for production for many students, including myself. Camp never fails to disappoint and this year it topped all of my expectations.
It really brought everyone closer together and reinforced the 'Production family' feeling.
We jumped straight into rehearsals and started by reading through the entire script, which, on behalf of everyone, I can say was amazing to see all the talent within our cast.
The Sunday was then a full day of rehearsals, running through singing and finishing two entire cast scenes. That night we then did some bonding games, learning some interesting facts about the teachers and then commenced our game of Capture the Flag. This brought out the competitive side in everyone, especially Mr Kruger but it was one of the best moments for me and we all definitely had a great deal of fun.
The last day we ran through all our scenes that we worked through on the weekend and I think I can speak on behalf of everyone that we are filled with excitement on how amazing this is going to show be.
Overall camp was an amazing experience, one that I will never forget and am definitely sad I can't come back next year. My highlight was being able to spend 3 days with amazingly talented people and work together as a team to put on an amazing show
