VCE Literature

Joseph Conrad's classic, Heart of Darkness

Exciting excursions for our very grimly named Crime and Punishment semester

by Annabel Grigg, Teacher of English, Literature and French

The Year 11s have an exciting second semester ahead. As well as attending Bell Shakespeare’s Macbeth  with a group of other lucky students, I have confirmed that we will be visiting the Kareenga Prison and meeting some inmates serving time there as part of our exploration of the genre of Crime Fiction – through comparison of the texts In Cold Blood  and Joe Cinque’s Consolation  in Unit 2.

The Year 12 Literature students are progressing well, now focusing on our three exam texts: Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, Heart of Darkness and Seamus Heaney’s poetry.  All three of these will be covered in the University of Melbourne’s Literature Winter School. If students from Years 10 to 12 are interested in attending, they can find more details at: http://arts.unimelb.edu.au/engage/extended-and-community-learning-programs/vce-programs-and-kits/vce-winter-school-2017
