Preshil Careers website
You can find the site here www.preshilcareers.com.au. Bookmark it for easy access - it will become available on our public website shortly.
The site contains a huge amount of information and should be your first stop when looking for facts and data relating to jobs, careers, universities, TAFE, or even about taking a gap year (and there is so much more). The site has a student login area that will allow you to do a number of things, including creating a digital portfolio and resume. I will send you login details when the secure area is ready and it will remain available to you as an Alumni providing you keep your contact information up to date.
In the meantime, to get an idea of what the website has to offer, it would be great if you could take a bit of a tour by doing the following:
1. Go to the site www.preshilcareers.com.au. On the Home Page you will see a few things to note:
- a) Video – There is a careers related video that will change from time to time. Some are quite humorous, some interesting, others just informative, so remember to periodically check the website to watch them.
- b) The Career and Course Finder - The ability to search for courses (University, TAFE and private providers), scholarships and job information. This is a link to the Good Universities Guide which is Australia's largest course comparison site with over 30,000 listed at present.
- c) The Message Board – I will post messages and notices here, so keep an eye on this.
2. Go to the “Calendar of Events” in the Important Information menu. Here you will find a calendar for the year. We will post important dates for Open Days and Events here. If you want to receive alerts or reminders of upcoming events, just enter your name and email address.
3. The “Careers Newsletter” under the Important Information menu. You can subscribe to receive a Careers Newsletter at least twice each term. These will have lots of relevant information, important dates and so on. If you wish to receive them, just enter your name and email address or you can view them on the website.
4. Go to the Workplace Learning menu. Here you will see a number of pages you can go to, including Work Experience and Work Placement. There is also a page where you can download the documents you will need in order to go on Work Experience - and a gentle reminder to start thinking about your options in this regard.
5. Explore the Students menu. You will find lots of useful information here, including resume writing tips, holiday programs, scholarships, career games, help videos and bullseye charts to name a few.
6. Lastly there is also a Parents menu with a wealth of information to help you navigate the coming years. This website will be constantly kept up-to-date so please check back regularly for new information.
If you have any questions please feel free to call or email me anytime. I would welcome your feedback!
See where Maths and Stats can take you!
Maths Adds is a great website that highlights opportunities available to students who include mathematics or statistics in their degree. While many of the jobs listed here are based in big cities, others offer opportunities to work in regional centres or overseas.
The site gathers together a fraction of online job advertisements from 2016 and the previous two years. The common theme of the ads is mathematics and statistics, but the actual jobs vary across all sectors— health to computing, data analysis to biology and meteorology to finance. Whether you have a career plan or not, obtaining skills in the mathematical sciences can only add to your future career options!
2017 Course Matrices
Below you will find attached a vast resource that lists many types of university degrees, VCE prerequisites and ATAR requirements. You can follow the links in the document to VTAC for further information.
