Associate Principal, Operations Report

Staffing

Further to the information provided about replacements for staff on Leave during Terms Two and Three in last week’s Newsletter, I advise that Mrs Ursula Murphy has tendered her resignation effective during Term Two.  Mrs Murphy is to move to a new position outside schools and we wish her well in her new endeavours.  We have commenced the process of finding a replacement for Mrs Murphy in the Science Faculty where she teachers Biology and Year 9 Science, in the LOTE area where she has a class of Chinese and in the role of Head of Laidlaw House.  In addition, Mrs Murphy’s oversight of Racquet sports will need to be filled.

I hope to be able to advise of new arrangements in the near future and am confident we will be able to secure quality replacements.

Student/Parent/Teacher Meetings

The first Senior School Student/Parent/Teacher meetings for the year, as previously notified in calendars, will be held for Years 6 – 12 in the afternoon and early evening of Monday 16 April.

Parents are invited to make a booking to see teachers.  Bookings can be made on-line through the Parent Access Module (PAM).  The booking site will be opened for bookings on Thursday 29 March and will close at 5.00pm on Friday 13 April.  Parents can respond to, and amend if necessary, the bookings made by teachers through PAM.

Please note that we expect that students will attend these interviews with their parents.

Easter Service

The annual College Easter Service will again be held at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, corner McIntyre and Gray Streets, Hamilton, next Wednesday afternoon, commencing at 2.00pm.  Parents and friends of the school are invited to join us for this occasion.

This year’s Service will be different from those in previous years.  Central will be a rendition of Faure’s “Requiem” by choirs and individual musicians.  This year there will be no congregational singing but the music from the massed choir and soloists should be delightful.

Students have been advised that boys should wear long trousers and that they will need to wear ties and blazers.  Girls too will require blazers for this formal event.

All students have been reminded that a Collection is taken during the Service and they have been asked to have at least a gold coin to place in the collection plate.  Proceeds are distributed to a range of charities.

Finally, parents wishing to take their children home straight from the service are asked to ensure that the departure of each child is conveyed to, and noted by, the relevant Head of House.
