From the Board

The Board is delighted to announce the appointment of two new board members.

Mrs Roslyn Law has a degree in English and Politics from the University of Melbourne and a Diploma in Education. Roslyn taught senior English and History in country Victoria, Melbourne and Sydney, and lived in Perth for a number of years. In between teaching appointments, Roslyn worked in the airline and beef cattle industries. Roslyn has a son (James) and daughter (Sarah), and the family retains farming interests at Mortlake.

Mr Sam Roberts is a farmer from Harrow specialising in wool, sheepmeat and cropping. He has a Bachelor of Business (Ag Commerce) and a Bachelor of Laws. He is a member of the local CFA and has held the role of Secretary/Treasurer for 15 years. Sam has a strong interest in local education, having served on the Harrow local School Council for 10 years. He has also been involved in many roles across local sporting clubs and associations, having a particular interest in Cricket, playing at both College and Pigeon Ponds. Sam and his wife Sarah, have three children currently at Hamilton College : Claudia (Year 12; School Captain), Fergus (Year 9) and Lucy (Year 8)

I look forward to the contribution that both Rolly and Sam will make to the deliberations of the Board.

Earlier this week we signed the contract with RD & KE Huf Builders for the extensions to both the girls’ and boys’ boarding houses.  This development follows the completion earlier this year of the Director of Boarding residence.  Both projects are part of a new emphasis on making boarding an even closer community with an enhanced connection between staff and students.

As a Board we have been delighted to see the commencement of a program where three students each week assist with the serving of meals at the Tuesday meals program conducted by the Uniting Church for those less fortunate. I have received many positive comments from people outside the College family regarding this connection with the community.
