Clyde North Campus News

National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The dates for NRW remain the same each year; 27th May to 3rd June as the dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey— the successful 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.
National Reconciliation week also coincides with Catholic Education Week providing great opportunities for the exploration and development of one’s faith journey through this year’s theme “Listen to what the Spirit is saying” Rev. 2:7. To walk together with courage and be grounded in truth to support National Reconciliation Week, can be done with confidence, clarity and passion if we in fact do “Listen to what the Spirit is saying”. The Spirit provides as with an authentic authority to put aside the busyness of our lives to enable us to listen at deep level to the “to what the Spirit is saying”. It is through deep listening that something special will emerge in our minds and hearts. We are invited to look to Jesus, look to the Gospel and trust in the Spirit as we imagine, reflect and listen with open and humble hearts. It’s through listening, to our own thoughts and to the wisdom of others, that we may hear the Spirit’s message and be uplifted and renewed and walk together with courage.
Through the week, the Youth Ministry Class along with Ms Johnson have offered exciting and fun activities for all students to engage and “Listen to what the Spirit is saying” Rev. 2:7. One of the key activities involving all Religious Education classes, is students writing their reflection on the theme on cut out paper feathers which will then be placed on a huge white Dove. Next week we will bring the finished Dove, this week the Dove awaits its reflective feathers. We thank this team for supporting the faith journey of all staff and students at the Campus.
Breakfast is served.....
What a fantastic start to our Breakfast at Monday’s launch. A warm and inviting atmosphere was created instantly with the smell of freshly toasted bread, warm Milo and bowls and bowls of cereal.
Last Friday saw students serving up toast to students as a ‘taste’ of what was to come on this Monday with the official launch of the Breakfast Club.
There is no doubt that students and staff found an instant connection over a shared breakfast, as we had time to slow down, enjoy each other’s company and just talk. The art of conversation is not dead, but we must remember to take time to talk to each other, and leave the texting and you tubing for other times. Breakfast marks the start of the day and now every morning students can come and talk, eat and make connections with other students and staff.
Our Social Justice Captain Ophelia along with Ms Johnson and other staff have shown what can be done when you take an idea and run with it. An idea based on a genuine care for others driving action and honouring the Social Justice badge. Well done Ophelia and Ms Johnson and thank you to all staff who supplied their time, energy and donations of food, crockery, etc.
