At home kinder

Weeks one and two at home

We hope our families at home are keeping well and are enjoying the program of activities we have been creating. We have received some wonderful photos of the creations and work that has been happening. Even the teachers and educators at kinder have been getting in on the fun! We hope that through sharing these photos from home and videos from the teachers that we can maintain a connection and sense of kinder community through this strange time.

It looks like the papier mache planets, cubbies, nature art, neighbourhood walks and drawings of our houses were big hits over the first two weeks of term.

Have a look at our resources section and read over the article about helping children to cope with COVID-19, it has lots of great strategies that can be implemented at home and lets you in on all our secrets to creating a great learning environment for our little people. For example, try de-cluttering the toys, simplify your child's play space and put their toys on rotation. This helps them to deeply engage and focus on what they have. When they tire of what's on offer they can help choose some new things to bring out. And don't worry if you don't have a lot of toys! Boxes, sticks, empty bottles and colourful Autumn leaves lend themselves to some wonderful creative play. Plus, there's no need to occupy every minute of their day- "boredom is the mother of invention"
