Italian Day

Next Monday, our children will be participating in the ‘Corpus Christi Italian Festa’.  This is an exciting day where we, as a school community, will celebrate all things Italian. The children will have the opportunity to participate in FOUR special activities they have selected from the following choices:

  • Dove Making (La Colomba)
  • Soccer Clinic
  • Design like DaVinci
  • Carnevale Masks
  • Italian Construction
  • Bocce Tournament
  • Make a souvenir frame
  • Pinocchio Movie
  • Stained glass window making
  • Pasta Making (plain flour, eggs, tomatoes, salt, pepper,  garlic basil and olive oil)
  • Pizelle (Waffle) Making (plain flour, eggs, sugar, vanilla sugar, oil, lemon rind, cooking spray)

As a part of the celebrations, a special pizza lunch is being organised for the children. The wonderful owner/manager of Pizza Del Sole, has offered to open his store especially for our Italian Festa (no more orders can be taken).

To add to the ‘festa’ atmosphere, we are asking that the children come to school dressed in Italian colours, or if they prefer, a fashion that reflects Italy e.g. chef, waiter, soccer player, Roman soldier.  Of course, this is entirely optional, but the children will have the opportunity to parade their costumes at our Italian Assembly.

The timetable for the day is as follows:

The children will be treated to a true Italian ‘commedia dell’arte.’

They will watch and participate in an Italian musical theatre show.

Thank you to all the wonderful parents who have offered to help on the day. We look forward to seeing you on the day.

Mille grazie
