Year 5/6 Camp

Our Year 5/6s arrived at camp today bringing all their excitement with them. We couldn't ask for better weather so we hope they enjoy and savour every experience over the next three days .

I believe you will be able to follow our children's adventure via our Facebook account. Can't wait to see some pictures!

Italian day

Make sure you check out our Extra Curricula Page for everything you need to know about our upcoming Italian Day next Monday. Hope to see a sea of red, green and white.

Time to Retire!

Just a heads up to everyone that after 37 and a half years of service at Corpus Christi School, Mrs Isabella Sabatino will be retiring to spend time with family.

Isabella has had a number of roles during her time here and most recently has been leading curriculum development as our Director of Learning and Teaching while also being our Learning Diversity Leader - working with children, parents and teachers enabling children of varying needs experience success at school.

Those  of us who have worked closely alongside her or with her at different times throughout her journey will know just how profound her impact on teaching has been as too has her ability to form relationships with staff so as to empower them to be the best possible teacher they can be.

While the accolades will continue over the coming weeks I thought it timely to announce her decision now after completing her final Year Prep Transition Morning last Monday.

We will dearly miss her!

Timetable Change

To facilitate our Year 5/6 Camp there will need to be timetable changes this week. Basically we are swapping our Tuesday with our Thursday timetable.

So... Year 1/2B and all of Year 5/6 need to wear sports uniform on Tuesday and all of Year Prep and Year 3/4 along with 1/2C and 1/2H need to wear their sports uniform on Thursday.

Swimming Program

Our Year Prep-4 Swimming Program commences on Wednesday 6th November which is the day after Melbourne Cup Day and will run for eight (8) consecutive days at the Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre.

Swimming is part of the Physical Education curriculum and it is expected that all students attend.  Students will travel to and from the venue by bus each day and each lesson runs for 43 minutes.

Children are to wear their bathers underneath their uniform and bring a towel and underpants to school in another bag. Girls who wish to wear one-piece bathers will be given time to change at school before the lesson.

Please ensure that all items of clothing and the swimming bag are clearly labelled with the child’s name and grade. No jewellery is to be worn during the swimming program.

Parents who wish to observe their children swim are asked to adhere to the following guidelines as set by the Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre:

  • ALL parents/spectators must enter through the main entrance doors and report to customer service to advise they are watching the swim program with the school
  • No photographs are to be taken by parents/spectators
  • Parents/spectators must remain 4 metres from the edge of the pool and are NOT to approach children (or instructors) during lessons

Throughout the program we encourage the children to be as independent as possible, including getting themselves dressed in the change rooms after their lesson (You will be surprised how capable they actually are). In conjunction with our Child Safety Policy, parents are NOT  permitted in the change rooms while the children are getting changed. Teachers will be reminding you of this so please respect their requests. We also ask that items from the canteen are not purchased for children.

During the swimming program it is important that all children have a healthy and hearty breakfast and that they bring some extra healthy snacks to keep them going throughout the day, especially since they will be having an earlier lunch than normal.

Keep an eye out for permission requests, along with the full timetable  which will be sent out via CareMonkey very soon.

Transition Program

In response to feedback from parents, children and staff, this year we have extended our Transition Program for our P-3 children to allow them to gain valuable experience moving forward in to 2020.

Essentially they will have the opportunity to experience 'life ' in their 2020 classroom for an additional three (3) sessions with the first being next Thursday between 11:30am and 12:15pm (further days are as listed on the School Calendar).

We hope that these opportunities assist in relieving any anxiety and foster the development of new relationships.

Term 4 Closure Day

The school closure day for Term 4 is on Monday 4th November for staff professional development.  Children do not attend school on that day.
