A Fortnight's Wrap
During Week 2 of this term the Year 7 and 8 classes had the opportunity to travel to El Shaddai. The camp provided a great opportunity for students to come together and develop new friendships and for the new students in the school to learn about how we operate as a Tyndalian community.
Both staff and students had the opportunity to be challenged and face their fears. Each group needed to support and encourage others in their groups. It brings joy to the heart watching students and staff grow in their confidence.
The camp was followed this week by the Swimming Carnival. It was great to see the students in the pool participating with the final scores being so close at the end of the day. Congratulations must be given to Finniss who got their name on the shield for the first time. They fought hard all day, demonstrating the importance of working as a team. Well done.
Please keep an eye on the school diary dates with Middle School (Years 7-9) Parent Teacher Interviews coming up. These will have a pastoral focus, with the emphasis being more on how your child has settled into the new school year. Senior School (10-12) interviews will occur later in the term. Please make an effort to attend these interviews. I know every one of our teachers has an invested interest in the students in their care, and want the best possible outcomes for them.
To finish please enjoy some of the photos from the Year 7/8 camp.
God Bless,
Nick Simons

Year 7 Writing
The Year 7 English class has been challenging themselves to write 50 and 100 word stories. Here’s a taste of what they’ve composed.
Alissa
I wish that I could fly so that I can glide into the sky and see our beautiful world from the clouds. I want to feel the freedom in the sky and sense the clouds from up there, because I don’t want to wait till the mist comes down here.
Sophie
I wish I have place to read, a small, comfy room with all my favourite books and small fidgety things to do because I love reading, I find it hard to concentrate and fidgety things help me. I want to get away from worries I have about myself and others.
and Others
I wish…
That the world was happy, and no one was sad. There were no phones and no internet just people talking face to face. School was great no one gets bullied for their body or their family situations. So have courage and be kind no matter what happens.
I wish…. I could get into the NBA, but it is not easy. I will have to train intensely every day, get associated in higher level basketball to be better and I will be committed. I have to start by giving myself a growth mindset and don’t quit.
“I wish I weren’t so flat,” Whispered Annalee Darkly, ”I would do anything to be different!” she said in a low complaining tone, “ It would be so nice if I were bigger and…” She started “Wait, what’s that spherical face doing over the page that I am drawn on?
Annalee gasped, “My book has never been opened before! I have never seen anyone since I was drawn!”
“Mummy? Mummy!” the giant 3d person said, “Mummy, the little picture is talking!”
Then Annalee realised she had broken the books’ code! She recited it to herself, “I promise never to talk and never to walk in the sight of a person!”
Looking for a Tutor?
We are often asked by parents for contact details of anyone we know that provides Secondary School tutoring. Just this week we received information from Bonnie Edgecomb, a newly arrived resident to Strathalbyn with her husband Matthew who is the new pastor at the local Lutheran Church.
Bonnie is a teacher/tutor offering high school tutoring to students in Strathalbyn and surrounding areas, particularly in the area of Senior English, Research Project and HASS, along with other Middle School subjects.
If you are interested in this service, please feel free to make contact with Bonnie via the details here.
