Teamwork - the best sort of learning!
When I jumped out of the pool at my first Tyndale Swimming Carnival yesterday, I was truly grateful for the finishing line! I was quite a way out of my comfort zone to say the least. Yet, I was blessed to have Mrs O’Rourke, Mr Sands and Mr Hood swim the other three legs of our race, so we were able to finish a respectful gap behind the student team.
Let’s not ask whether it was planned that way or not!
From the carnival I have a renewed appreciation for all students who participated, especially when it is not necessarily their chosen sport. That is the wonderful thing about teams, isn’t it? They help us rise above what any one individual could possibly achieve. Making it to the end of the pool is an accomplishment. Teaming with others to complete a day of events is even better! That spirit of collaboration, witnessed at the pool by parents, volunteers, staff and students, is a picture of learning and achieving at its best.
Thank you to every one of the parents, students and staff who competed, cheered, organised events, marshalled swimmers, judged places, tallied points, handed out ribbons, supervised House teams, helped set up and pack up, or generally contributed to make the day a success.
In particular, I want to thank Mr McGowan for his very fine organisation of the day, which stood up to rain, wind and the logistics of having most of the school involved in a full day of activity. It was an enjoyable and successful event. Congratulations to Finniss for their win!
