Get your holiday reading now

This Term we have focused on adding titles as recommended by our students and staff. Now is the time for borrowers to come in and find a good book.  Browse the shelves and sample the new books or borrowers can ask the Library staff for a recommendation based on their preferred authors or genre.  We encourage everyone to come in, see what others are recommending and borrow a book or three for the holiday period.

Calling everyone - Enter the ClickView Premiers’ Reading Challenge…. Challenge

In the Premier’s Reading Challenge… Challenge, students have the opportunity to make and submit a film, using a phone or a camera.  The time for Making is at home during the holidays or at the College early next Term.

What is involved? Students pick a book- any book. Then choose to create a book trailer, perform a dramatic reading, write a book review or make something completely different on video, students have the chance to start building a folio of film works. Create, have fun and win $200 for a class party.

Snapped!

Principal Mr Geoff McManus was photographed in the Library enjoying the Black Out Poetry wall. “The student’s poetry is really great,” he said.  Mr McManus, like many of our students, has spent time reading the poetry created or “found” in random texts or from selected Wilfred Owen War poems.

Why not have a go in the school holidays to create your own literary masterpiece. It is a fun and relaxing activity. Get a marker or coloured pencil, photocopy a page from a book or use an article from a newspaper. Scan the text with your eyes, circle some words and then start ruling out the words you do not want in your poem. It can be tricky, but in time, a poem will emerge.

It has been a wonderful Term 3 in the Library. We wish you a great holiday break and we look forward to welcoming our students back to the Library in Term 4.
