Funny Moments

One day my mum and dad decided to go Afghanistan with my siblings except me and my other sister.

I said to my parents: “I also want to go with you,” but my mum said, “You can’t go with us because of your school. If you go with us then you will be behind in your study from the other students."

I agreed with my mum. "That's okay," I said. "I’m not going with you guys; I will focus on my study”. But I still felt that I should go to Afghanistan with my family even though I already told my mum that I will not go. Then the family started packing their stuff and they were getting ready for their journey. I was standing so sad and just watching them do what they were doing.

The day arrived that they must go. The time for their travelling was 09:00 am. My family woke up early two hours then their travelling time. I also woke up early and I still feel like going. Then I decided that I should go with my family otherwise I will miss this picnic and I told myself not to worry about study once I came back then I will do my work.

I felt a bit worried how I would tell my mum that I also want to go, then I made a plan that I will act unconscious in front of my family. I was in the hall when my dad came. I was suddenly unconscious then my dad called mum that Asma is unconscious. They were very scared, and they said what happened to Asma suddenly.

When I heard their conversation, I felt like laughing but I didn’t because I control myself. Then they poured some water on my face and regained consciousness. My family were so happy when they saw me that I’m okay. "I want to go with you," I said to my family. "If I don't go, I will be unconscious, and my feelings will also not be good."

My mum said to me: "Pack your stuff - you are going with us. I can’t leave you alone."

I was so happy, and I was laughing so much because of how my plan worked. So, this was my funniest moment.

Happiest Times

My one of the happiest times in my life was when my brother born. I had three sisters, but I didn't have a brother. I was becoming so upset when I saw my relatives and friends have brothers and I was the only one that I didn’t have brothers. I was thinking a lot why the god is not giving us a brother. Then I started praying a lot that God would give me a brother.

The time was passing, and I became more and more upset. Then one day my mum had a baby and I was unsure if it was a boy or girl because my mum didn’t scan the baby's gender. After the ninth month, my mum went to hospital and she gave birth and it was a boy.

My mum was so happy, and she called me to give me a surprise. She said: "Asma, your brother was born." When I heard this, I started crying. My mum said, "Why are you crying? This is the happiest moment you should be happy."

"These are tears of joy," I said to my mum. "I'm so happy."

I prayed and I said that I am very pleased and thankful with God that He fulfilled my wish.

After some hours my mum came from hospital with my little brother in her hand. When I saw him, I quickly went to my mum and I grabbed my little gorgeous brother from her. I kissed him on his soft cheek.

My whole family and I were so happy, and we did a lot of dancing and fun. So, this was the happiest moment for me, and the god gave us the big joy of our life.

Smart and Strong

When we came to Australia there was no one to help us and we were new in Australia. So, I was the only person who could help my family because I knew a little bit of English.

At that time, I didn't know how to sort out all the things. I was so confused and didn't know what to do. But I told myself to be strong, smart and helpful because there is no-one else who can help: You are the one and you should help your family.

One day I got a text message that we have an appointment with a doctor for our immunisation, so we need to go to hospital. But we didn't know which bus stop we should get off. Then the day before that we were going to hospital, I learned how to use Google Maps then I put the hospital address and we reached it on time.

There are a lot more things that I can help with, such as making appointments, siblings' school interviews, going to doctors with my parents for translating, etc.  My family and I suffer from a lot of things but every time I try my hardest to support my family because I was the only hope for my family and I never give up. I’m also trying to be more helpful and strong to solve all their problems and to see them be happy all the time.
